Dramatic long form: Psycho-Pass

I'm writing to recommend the anime Psycho-Pass (season 1) by Production I.G for Best Dramatic Presentation (long form).

Set in a futuristic Japan where the Sibyl System checks people's "hues" for signs of latent criminality, Psycho-Pass is a stylishly animated police procedural with a touch of Phillip K. Dick.

Akane Tsunemori is a new recruit in the MWSPB, which is the enforcement bureau of the system. As a detective, she's in charge of enforcers--latent criminals who agreed to work as hunting dogs for the Bureau. Her team investigates a series of crimes, which appear unrelated until Enforcer Shinya Kogami connects one of them to a man he investigated several years before, for a crime which resulted in the death of one of his teammates.

The writers portray the world as creepily dystopian as it deserves, even referring outright to Dick in episode 15 (season 2).

The animation, especially the lush backgrounds, is excellent, as you'd expect from a team like Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, Library War).

You can watch it free online at Funimation.
